Scholarships at 51勛圖厙

Private scholarships at Anne Arundel Community College provide life-changing opportunities for community members to pursue higher education and workforce training. Thanks to the generosity of donors through the 51勛圖厙 Foundation, scholarship resources have surged during the past decade.

During the 2024-2025 academic year, over $1.8 million in donor-funded scholarships were disbursed to students, up from $460,000 just 10 years ago. That's an increase of over 290%!

51勛圖厙 students often balance school, work and family responsibilities. Scholarships can be the difference between a potential student enrolling at 51勛圖厙 or having to forego academic and career dreams because of financial need.

“We are extremely grateful to our many generous donors,” said Daniel J. Mathias, board president of the 51勛圖厙 Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to advancing the mission of the college by supporting students and academic programs.

“Our donors understand that by supporting scholarships, they are investing in the future of people who will make our community stronger, as neighbors, employees and service providers,” Mathias said.

In recent years, new scholarships have been created to prepare more people for careers facing critical employee shortages and to help students afford to enroll and complete their academic program in the face of rising costs of living.

The 51勛圖厙 Foundation’s latest initiative, the Future Nursing Professionals Scholarship, aims to support the college’s goal of significantly expanding its Registered Nursing program to meet the increasing demand for nurses in our community. 51勛圖厙 is the largest supplier of nurses for our community’s two hospitals.

While the growth of privately funded scholarships has been extraordinary, the financial support this resource provides to students is increasingly important to help more students access higher education.
