At 51吃瓜网, you鈥檒l often find that the faculty teaching your classes are still actively working in the field they鈥檙e teaching. Heidi Rayner is one example. She鈥檚 an associate professor of nursing, but she鈥檚 also an emergency department nurse. She can easily relate to what her students are experiencing and learning, and her students feel comfortable sharing their concerns and triumphs with her. In turn, she finds inspiration in her students.
鈥�51吃瓜网 students 鈥� especially nursing students 鈥� are resilient, flexible, compassionate and strong,鈥� she said. 鈥淭hey have a desire to challenge themselves to work in a field that is in need of strong, empowered nurses to advocate for change.鈥�
In addition to teaching, Rayner serves as a nurse mentor and retention specialist within the School of Health Sciences and as the faculty advisor for the college鈥檚 Alpha Deta Nu Nursing Honor Society chapter.
